Coke Man
Yesterday I went on a rant over the size of the bottled water in our drink machine. They're literally half the size of your ordinary twenty ounce soda. I went on and on about "the man". When I got back from lunch there were six cases of bottled water in the reception area. "The Man" had heard my pleas for justice and equality and delivered me from my thirst. A BIG thanks to the Coke Man for all the water. We distributed it so everyone could share all the varieties (lemon, black cherry, strawberry, raspberry, . . .). As it turns out, the Coca-Cola distributor here in Jackson doesn't even service our machine. It's serviced by a vending company. So here's to the Coke Man: a true servant to the people, a deliverer (literally) of peace in concessions, and thwarter of the evils of a vending machine rip-off. clink-clink.

I am currently working in Charleston, SC but have my home in Jackson.
I am a little homesick so appreciate this "tie" to the community.
Vending machines are user "unfriendly" everywhere. You always get less for more money and when it does'nt give you the product, after inserting your money, "no one" and I mean "no one" will admit ownership of said machine !
I submit we iniate a boycott of all machines and just go hungry & thirsty until we can get our wives or girl friends to bring us what we need - when we need it !
The men and women that fill the vending machines just do their job as you do yours. I love the 101.5 radio station and am a loyal listener, but hate the mounds of commercials. Do I stop listening?? Nope.
My husband is a filler of vending machines and he works about 60 hours a week. He has also had to get a 2nd job just make ends meet....so don't blame the vending man for the high prices or the product. No one MAKES you buy the product. This world is littered with convience stores and discount food stores...if you don't want to pay the prices....bring it yourself.
But don't call for a boycott of the machines, you take money out of someone else/s mouth. Those vending guys don't get paid by the hour, they get paid on commission from the machines. The machines that they DON'T decide the product or the price.
Now...go use your time wisely and complain about something else...
Amamda,
You are too "close" to this issue to make a rational judgement about the problems I listed. You do not offer a solution, you just try and make a statement about your financial situation, etc.!
Please be more proactive about the problems, and remove your husband out of the scenario, and maybe it will give you a better perspective of the overall picture !
Thanks !
I myself am not close to the issue like Amanda, but everyone should watch what they say that could affect people and their family just because they want to vent about something to make them feel better and put someone in their place so to speak.
